Call for Volunteers
We have great volunteer opportunities available this fall!
Our biggest need is helpers to work individually or in smalls groups with children, 4:30 – 6:00 pm, one day per week, Monday to Thursday in our after-school Science Club at Marie H. Reed Community Learning Center (in Adams Morgan at the intersection of 18th Street and Kalorama Road, 6 blocks from Columbia Heights or Dupont Circle Metro). You don't need to be a math or science wiz to volunteer – our Science Club combines fun, easy, hands-on experiments with activities to strengthen basic math skills – any teen or adult can successfully help in this setting. Training for tutors is provided, as well as on-site support from City Gate staff and teachers from Marie Reed.- At our location in Tenleytown, we are expanding our conversational English class to include evening classes and are in need of volunteer teachers, 2 nights each week, approximately 6:30 – 8 pm. You don't need to speak a foreign language to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) – just a desire to help and encourage students as they learn. Classes are held at Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church, at Wisconsin and Nebraska Aves., two blocks from the Tenleytown-AU Metro stop.
Additionally, we occasionally need people to help with special Saturday events, such as field trips and community outreach, approximately once every two months. Finally, we can always use people with special skills and/or talents to offer in areas such as sports, art, or music.

We'd love to have you on our team!
