We Need You!

GED Tutors

Keshini Ladduwahetty helps Seven Jackson with an interactive math activity Volunteers to serve as GED tutors for weekly, one-on-one lessons at a convenient location such as the MLK library downtown (near Metro Center and Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stations), assisting older youth who need help with math, reading, writing and social studies. Tutors will be provided with an orientation and binder with tutoring strategies, plus the full assistance of an experienced GED instructor.

ESL Conversation Partners

Girl drawing Volunteer as a conversation partner for adults who are learning English. Tutors can meet at Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church (at Tenley Circle) to assist learners by having conversations and teaching learners about American customs while enhancing their English comprehension. Conversation partners can use books from a small ESL library located at Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church to help teach or enhance conversation.
