Summer Youth Service Corps
Every year City Gate has served as a host site for the DOES (DC Department of Employment Services) Passport-to-Work program, placing as many as 20-40 youth as assistants for our summer day camps. This program creates an opportunity for DC youth to gain valuable job and life experience matching youth ages 14-18 with host businesses and organizations in several areas of career interest.
This summer, with funds from the DC Children and Youth Investment Corporation, we're excited to be able to expand our involvement in this program to a full Summer Youth Service Corp. In addition to assisting our summer day camps, youth will spend 2-3 hours each day focusing on youth development activities, such as job readiness, career exploration, college prep, community service, and leadership skills.
