City Gate is an urban ministry in Washington, DC, seeking to open doors of opportunity, empowerment, and friendship. Our primary focus is on children and youth in the city and on internationals. Folger Shakespeare Library Holiday Child Adoption Tree

Many thanks to the employees of the Folger Shakespeare Library for sponsoring Christmas gifts for the children in our after-school programs!

The Christmas Child Tree, complete with an abundance of gifts.

Set in the Folger's great hall was a tree with all the names of our children written on ornaments. Employees chose a child, and then used the information provided on the ornament to buy toys for them. They also contributed non-perishable food items for our food pantry and Christmas food baskets. Finally, representatives from City Gate were invited to attend the Folger's holiday party, to receive the gifts and food, and meet the people who provided them.
