February Urban Hands: Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ's Valentine's Day Gift Bags
The children of Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ of Bethesda, MD collected candy and small gifts, such as games, pencils, lip balm, and hand-held games; and assembled them into gift bags for the children and youth in City Gate's after-school programs. Each bag also contained a colorful pair of gloves — what a practical gift in the coldest part of winter! Then on March 11th Kristin Wiener, City Gate's Programs Director, was invited to speak during the Children's Time of Westmoreland's Sunday service. City Gate kids had made paper hearts with "thank you" messages on them, and Kristin passed them out to the Westmoreland children. It was great to show that when we give love to others, it always comes back to bless us.
