Giving Thanks
We at City Gate we are very much into giving thanks. With two new after-school locations, new outreach efforts such as a new clothing closet, and new opportunities like our evening step classes, we have a lot to be thankful for!

Kids in the after-school program at National Baptist made a beautiful collage of fall leaves, painted leaf prints, and leaf cut outs with the way we show God and those we care about that we are thankful written on them.
At our Atlantic Gardens/Southern Hills location in SE DC, our Site Manager, Michelle Newby and the after-school program staff not only assembled and passed out over 80 Thanksgiving baskets, complete with turkey and all the fixings, but also cooked a special Thanksgiving feast for the children in the program to enjoy that Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving baskets were possible through the generosity of several individuals and organizations — thanks and blessings to all who contributed!

Needless to say, now we are very low on our food pantry supplies. With Christmas coming up, we are in need of non-perishable food items and grocery store gift cards to give to our children and families before the winter break. If you are able to contribute, please contact Ms. Newby at 202-561-5113.
