Outreach Day at National Baptist Memorial Church
On Saturday, November 3rd, volunteers from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) assisted City Gate and National Baptist Memorial Church in giving away hundreds of items of clothing – officially opening the new City Gate clothing closet at that site!
We set up tables in the church parking lot with folded clothes on them, put up large banners on the fence along with flyers for the After-school program, and passed out coffee, hot chocolate and doughnuts. The event attracted a lot of attention; we probably spoke to close to 100 people about City Gate, the after-school program, and the clothing closet at National Baptist.
Several of the people we spoke to wanted to know what days/times the clothing closet would be open, and now National Baptist has agreed to man the clothing closet every Thursday from 2-4 pm. For more information about the clothing closet, hours, and donations, please call Kelley Greening at 202-561-5113 or Totlyn Taylor at 202-265-1410.
