Call for After-School Program Volunteers

We have many different volunteer opportunities available this fall! Our biggest need are tutors to work individually with a child on their homework and then academic skills such as reading and math, 3:30 – 5:30 pm, one day per week, Monday to Thursday in our after-school programs. Training for tutors is provided, as well as on-site support from a City Gate staff person. Additionally, we need people to help with special Saturday events, such as field trips and community outreach, approximately once every two months. Finally, we can always use people with special skills and/or talents to offer in areas such as sports, art, or music.
There are tutoring opportunities in each of the following locations:
- National Baptist Memorial Church at 1501 Columbia Rd. NW (3 blocks from the Columbia Heights Metro)
- Atlantic Gardens Apartments at 4335 4th Street SE (about 1 mile from the Congress Heights metro on the M8 or M9 metro bus)
- Marie H. Reed Community Learning Center (in Adams Morgan at the intersection of 18th Street and Kalorama Road, 6 blocks from Columbia Heights or DuPont Metro)
Please contact us to learn more by calling (202) 537-0972 or (202) 561-5113
Or email us at info@city-gate.org.
We'd love to have you on our team!
